We are a very friendly group of about 60 members of varying abilities and ages who share a love of singing. We give four concerts a year, frequently with soloists and an orchestra usually held in St Peters, Sudbury. As well as large choral works, our programmes feature a variety of music, from Bach to the Beatles, and include folk music, madrigals and carols. There are no auditions, but an ability to read music is an advantage.
Although we take our music seriously, there is also room for fun and friendship. There are singing days, social and money-making events such as a summer barbecue and an annual quiz. Rehearsals from September 2017 will be held at Woodhall School Mayflower Way, Sudbury CO10 1ST, on Monday evenings from 7.45pm to 9.45pm. You are welcome to come to three rehearsals to see how you like it before the subscription is due. Don’t forget to like us on Facebook!
David Butcher lives and works in Suffolk as a broadcast engineer and is married with two young children. Much of his time away from the day job is spent involved in music in one form or another. David accompanies The Accidentals ladies vocal harmony group which was formed from members of the Choral Society, and Ipswich based vocal group Musicology. He is also organist at various local churches. The pipe organ is David’s first love and recently he has been involved in recording instruments from Suffolk and beyond for Hauptwerk, a digitally created virtual pipe organ. Nothing beats live music-making however, and David always enjoys a lively Monday evening rehearsal as well as conducting the society at their various concerts throughout the year.
